Challenge #17 Winner

From Jane :

'Si Rowee po ay isang mahusay na scrapper. Walang kinukuento si Cecel sa kin kundi ang mga challenges sa Pinas na pinapanalo ng ate nya, siempre proud sister. And I think most of those challenges were on-the-spot' challenges. Thanks Rowee!"

Rowee's choice: Lola Coring by CJ

Rowee's comment:

"What I liked about her LO are the colors and the way she grouped the flowers."

Jane's comment:

"Technically, this LO passed with flying colors. Flying colors talaga because aside from red,I think she used 5 other shade/tone/tint of it. Plus, her application of black in the LO is smart (I think Soox also have done this). At dahil sa LO ni CJ, hahanapin ko ang Hambly sa MWL, hehe. Special mentiongoes to Minnie Mama by Benga, being my personalfavorite. One great monochromatic layout!"

Jane's personal message...

'Thanks to those who joined the challenge. Though few, I was delighted with the entries. Reason ko po pala kung bakit ako nagpa-challenge: a monochromatic LO, personally, is boring coz, as the description implies, you will stick to a single color. So, gusto kong ma-convince at makita from great scrappers napuede syang maging exciting. And the challenge did just that. Salamat po sa magagandang ideas!'

Journal :

Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn't worry whether or not my furniture can harm achild.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.

Pooped on.

Chewed on.

Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

I slept all night. Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child

so doctors could do tests. Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a babysleep.

Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just

because I didn't want to put them down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces whenI couldn't stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my

life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of

having my heart outside my body.

I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure allwas okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, beforeI was a Mom.

Mom's The Word by Bheng

Journal:
What is a Mother?

A mother is someone to shelter and guide us,
To love us, whatever we do,
With a warm understanding and infinite patience,
And wonderful gentleness, too.

How often a mother means swift reassurance
In soothing our small, childish fears,
How tenderly mothers watch over their children
And treasure them all through the years.

The hearth of a mother is full of forgiveness
For any mistake, big or small,
And generous always in helping her family
Whose needs she has placed above all.

A mother can utter a word of compassion
And make all our cares fall away,
She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter
And make life delightful and gay.

A mother possesses incredible wisdom
And wonderful insight and skill-
In each human heart is that one special corner
Which only a mother can fill!

Challenge #17 : Go Mono on Mother's Day

By: JANE

What: Since it’s Mother’s Day next Sunday, create an LO celebrating mothers!
It can be you (if you’re one), your mother, grandmother, sister, or a friend.

How: Since Scrappers at SG just turned ONE, let’s go MONOMonochromatic!

1. Choose one color you’re going to use in your LO – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet.
2. With your color, use a minimum of three of its shade/tint/tone.
3. Use only one patterned paper. Since patterned papers are multi-colored, make sure that the dominant color is the color you’re working on.
4. Embellishments – no limits! But, of course, stick to your color. But if you really can’t help putting other colors, you can just use black, white or gray.
5. Lastly, make sure that there’s only one person in the photo.

Why: Because a secret judge (whose identity will be revealed later) will be picking the most creative layout. Most especially, there’ll be a RAK. My role? I’ll just be checking if the criteria are met.

When: You can start right about now (May 3) until May 23! Happy scrapping!

Journal :

Motherhood

… starts when your pregnancy test kit showed 2 lines and you can’t help but cry because you waited long enough to want it so much.

… is anticipating every month’s visit to the OB and you pray to hear the baby’s heartbeat again.

… is trying to endure all the pains of giving birth, be it normal delivery or by CS, just to see, hug and kiss your baby.

… is waiting every month to capture all your baby’s ‘firsts’ with a camera, and feeling sad when another person in the house sees them first.

… is watching Barney, and memorizing the songs, just so you’d be able to sing with your child when you’re asked to.

… is sleeping outside the bedroom and praying to spare your child when you’re down with flu.

… is stopping whatever you’re doing when your child calls you and asks you to draw something or read a story.

… is feeling nervous (more than excited) on your child’s first day of pre-school.

… is learning to do scrapbooks no matter how ‘un-creative’ you are just to be able to give them something they’ll cherish when they’ve grown.

… is trying very hard to suppress your anger when your child gets uncontrollable because you know that it’s just not worth it.

… is feeling really down because your child is very sick and you wish that it’s just you.

… is bittersweet. I’ve been a mother for two-and-a-half years and I know there’ll be MORE sweet and painful experiences coming my way. But, no matter what, I know I’ll do just fine.
